In normal browsing, pilcrow.es sets no cookies at all. There is no analytics, no advertising and no social media tracking.

• Language preference: if you switch language, a cookie may record that choice so you are not switched back on your next page. It contains a two-letter language code and nothing else, and expires after one year.
• Logged-in editors only: WordPress sets session and preference cookies for people who sign in to manage content. These are never set for ordinary visitors.

Why there is no cookie banner

Under the ePrivacy Directive and Spanish law, consent is required for cookies that are not strictly necessary for a service the visitor has requested. The only cookie an ordinary visitor may receive records a language preference they actively chose, which falls within that exemption. Because we set no analytics or advertising cookies, there is nothing to ask consent for, so we do not interrupt you to ask.

Some pages may link to video or documents hosted by EU project platforms or partner organisations. We link to them rather than embedding players, so those services only receive data if you choose to follow the link. If an embed is ever added, this page will be updated first and the embed will require your action to load.

Controlling cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the language cookie will not stop the site working; it will simply not remember your language choice between pages.
