CLIMACT YOUTH: Climate Action through Urban Agriculture for Green and Civic Youth Competences

CLIMACT YOUTH strengthens the capacity of youth workers in Italy, Spain, Serbia and Belgium to engage young people in climate-smart community action through a structured Urban Agriculture for Youth methodology. The partners co-design the model, develop a practical toolkit, train at least 40 youth workers and run four urban pilot projects in which 60 young people develop measurable green and civic competences.

Why this project

Climate change is the issue young Europeans care most about, yet youth work rarely gives them a structured way to act on it locally. Urban agriculture offers a hands-on, community-based route from concern to competence.

Objectives

  • Strengthen the capacities of youth workers to engage young people in climate-smart community action.
  • Foster young people's green and civic competences through a structured Urban Agriculture for Youth methodology.
  • Co-design, pilot and validate the model in four urban contexts.
  • Embed the approach in youth work practice and disseminate it at national and European level.

Activities

  • Co-design of a structured Urban Agriculture for Youth methodological model.
  • Development of a modular toolkit with learning pathways, session plans and competence tracking tools, led by PILCROW.
  • Transnational training of trainers for youth workers and national replication trainings.
  • Local pilot projects with young people in four countries, with monitoring and validation of results.
  • Coordinated dissemination and sustainability actions at national and European level.

Expected results

These are the results the project set out to produce. They are commitments made in the application, not outcomes already achieved.

  • Validated Urban Agriculture for Youth Methodological Model and Toolkit.
  • Green and civic competence framework for youth work.
  • At least 40 youth workers trained across Italy, Spain, Serbia and Belgium.
  • 60 young people with measurable green and civic competences, through four urban pilot projects generating lasting community green activities.
  • Sustainability Roadmap and open dissemination to over 120 stakeholders.
