GREEN & SustainABLE Communities

A youth exchange for 42 young people on making local communities greener and more sustainable, linking environmental action to community belonging and well-being. The project connects Youth Goal #10 (Sustainable and Green Europe) with Youth Goal #5 (Mental Health and Wellbeing).

Why this project

Young people often feel isolated when they are disconnected from their communities. Involving them in local sustainability work strengthens both the community and their own well-being.

Objectives

• Empower young people to understand and contribute to greener, more sustainable local communities.
• Connect environmental action with community belonging and mental well-being.
• Build competences for practical community-level sustainability work.
• Strengthen intercultural learning through non-formal education.

Activities

• A youth exchange with 42 participants, six young people and one group leader per country.
• Non-formal learning workshops on sustainability and community resilience.
• Peer-to-peer learning and community action planning.
• Intercultural learning activities and dissemination.

Expected results

These are the results the project set out to produce. They are commitments made in the application, not outcomes already achieved.

• 42 young people, including four with fewer opportunities per country, equipped for local sustainability action.
• Community action plans developed by participants.
• Strengthened intercultural competences and European awareness.
• Dissemination of learning within partner communities.

Who it is for

Young people aged 18 to 30 from the participating countries, including participants facing geographical, economic or social barriers.
