From North Macedonia to Austria and Spain: an active autumn of European youth mobility

The past weeks have been busy for PILCROW’s European youth mobility work, with international learning activities in North Macedonia, Spain and Austria.

Between August and September 2026, PILCROW supported participation in three Erasmus+ mobilities covering youth work, sustainability, resilience and personal wellbeing.

Upskilling Youth Work, Struga (North Macedonia)

From 23 to 31 August 2026, youth workers from different countries met in Struga to exchange practice, strengthen their competences and look at new ways of improving the quality of youth work in their organisations and communities.

Youth Workers Mobility for SustainAbility, Alicante (Spain)

In September, a training course in Alicante linked professional development in youth work with one of the biggest concerns of younger generations: sustainability. Through non-formal learning and international exchange, participants explored how environmental awareness and sustainable practice can become part of everyday youth work.

RAW – Resilient, Aware, Whole, Rettenegg (Austria)

From 21 to 29 September 2026, a youth exchange in the Austrian village of Rettenegg focused on resilience, awareness and wellbeing, and gave young people room to learn from one another across cultural and national contexts.

Mobility as a learning process

The themes and formats were different, but they share an idea that sits at the heart of PILCROW’s work: international mobility is most valuable when it becomes a learning process rather than simply a trip abroad.

Participants return with new experiences, contacts, ideas and perspectives that keep shaping their personal development and their involvement in their local communities. They also find out that many of the challenges they face at home are shared elsewhere, and that solutions can be built together.

PILCROW will keep creating and supporting opportunities that connect local participation in Spain with learning and cooperation across Europe.
