STAY: Skills for Thriving, Agency and Youth Engagement
STAY tackles quiet quitting among young people aged 18 to 28: the silent disengagement from work, volunteering and early professional life. The project builds a handbook and a multilingual risk scanner that help young people and youth workers spot early disengagement and respond to it with communication and boundary-setting skills rather than blame.
Why this project
Quiet quitting is increasingly visible among young people entering work and volunteering. It is rarely indifference. It usually follows unclear roles, absent feedback, workloads that cannot be sustained, difficulty setting boundaries and the sense of not being heard.
Objectives
- Reduce quiet quitting among young people aged 18 to 28 by raising awareness of early disengagement.
- Build communication and boundary-setting skills in young people and in the people who work with them.
- Develop and pilot the STAY Handbook and a multilingual Engagement and Quiet-Quitting Risk Scanner.
- Strengthen partner organisations and share practice between organisations and educators.
Activities
- A two-day in-person kick-off in Iceland to agree the workplans.
- Co-creation of the STAY Handbook in four languages.
- Design and launch of a multilingual Engagement and Quiet-Quitting Risk Scanner on the STAY platform.
- A five-day capacity-building workshop for 12 youth workers.
- Quiet Circles, one youth workshop per partner country for 15 young people each.
- A transnational STAY Engagement Campaign combining social media challenges with community pop-ups.
Expected results
These are the results the project set out to produce. They are commitments made in the application, not outcomes already achieved.
- An open-access STAY Handbook in four languages, adopted by youth workers.
- A multilingual Engagement and Quiet-Quitting Risk Scanner, live, with a target of 200 unique uses.
- 12 youth workers trained, with Youthpass recognition, and three Quiet Circles piloted with 15 young people each.
- A campaign reaching 1,000 young people and driving 200 handbook downloads.
- Partner organisations embedding the tools and routines that sustain engagement.
